Stephen Silver (44) has been charged with the capital murder of Detective Garda Colm Horkan during the Summer.
Silver was charged this morning at Castlerea District Court after being in custody since June when he was charged with the murder of Mr Horkan.
Judge Alan Mitchell stated this morning that there was an additional charge of capital murder. Silver made no reply to the charge.
