Lockdown exiting announcement due Friday by Government

Cabinet will meet this week to establish the exiting plan for Level 5 restrictions next week.

Indications so far would suggest the country will move back to Level 3, with certain modifications.

An Taoiseach will give a televised announcement on Friday with the plans moving towards Christmas.

Retailers, Hoteliers and Publicans have been expressing concerns over the exiting strategy, giving the importance of the Christmas period towards the respected parties annual revenue.

Micheál Martin said that “no decisions have been made as yet”.

He said there will be meetings with the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) and Covid-19 subcommittee this week, with the Cabinet meeting for a second time later in the week to discuss the most up to date data before an announcement is made.
