Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has proposed a ban on takeaway alcoholic drinks for the remainder of the Level 5 lockdown.
The Minister made this decision based on social media footage showing large groups of people socialising and drinking in the streets of Dublin city centre.
The proposal will be brought to a Cabinet meeting tomorrow.
Kerry Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae called out the government on this decision stating that it is an over-reaction. The TD stated that he hopes that the Cabinet “has the ability to see common sense and realise it’s a wrong decision at this time.”
