A typhoon has hit the Philippines, causing extensive flooding, and ultimately resulting in the deaths of at least 39 people.
Thousands of people have also been rescued, though waters have mostly receded.
Typhoon Vamco passed north of Manila between Bulacan and Pampanga provinces overnight on Wednesday into early yesterday.
“We’ll continue to look for the missing, help in damage assessment,” military chief of staff general Gilbert Gapay said.
32 other people are also reported missing as a result of the typhoon.
