Joe Biden to become the 46th president of the United States

Democrat Joe Biden is to become the 46th president of the United States after defeating President Donald Trump.

As he turns 78 years old this month, Mr Biden will be the oldest president to take up office.

This follows over three days of uncertainty from a delay that was caused by a surge of postal votes.

Crossing 270 electoral college votes, Mr Biden won Pennsylvania. The electoral college votes received from Pennsylvania placed Biden at 284 and Trump at 214.

Mr Biden is also expected to pick up more votes from the states of Nevada and Georgia.
