13 files sent to DPP over suspected breaches of Covid-19 regulations

There were 13 incidents of suspected breaches of travel regulations in the first nine days of Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions.

One file has been sent to the DPP in relation to the non-wearing of face coverings.

An Garda Síochána has operated 132 checkpoints a day on major roads since Level 5 restrictions were introduced on 22nd October, as well as around a thousand on secondary and minor roads.

Gardaí say they have also been conducting checks of retail premises to ensure they are complying with public health regulations.

As of 31st October there had been 11 incidents where premises had continued with suspected breaches.

Gardaí say files will be sent to the DPP.
