At least 19 dead following attack at Kabul University

At least 19 casualties have been reported and 22 people have been injured following an attack at Afghanistan’s largest university ‘Kabul University’.

The attack began when government officials were arriving for the Iranian book fair organised at the campus when gunmen stormed the facility.

Extremist groups, such as Islamic State, have attacked several education centres over the years although the Taliban has denied any involvement at the Kabul University attack.

Only last week, 24 people were killed following a suicide attack at an education centre in western Kabul to which Islamic State claimed responsibility for.
