Man arrested by gardaí had live European Arrest Warrant for serious offences

Gardaí arrested a man in his 30s for drug offences following an operation Fanacht checkpoint on the N7 southbound yesterday evening.

Gardaí detected a smell of cannabis in the man’s car and subsequently asked the man to partake in a drug test, to which he refused.

A search was then conducted by gardaí which lead to the discovery of a quantity of cannabis inside the vehicle.

Further checks revealed that the man, who gardaí say is Eastern European, had a live European Arrest Warrant in place for him for a number of serious offences.

The man was taken to Clondalkin Garda Station and appeared before the High Court this morning.
