Nearly 300,000 people to receive Pandemic Unemployment Payment this week

According to the latest figures from the Department of Social Protection, nearly 300,000 people will receive the Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) this week which is an increase of over 50,000 in the last seven days.

The PUP will be claimed by 295,860 people this week which will cost €85.6 million, which is an increase of over €20 million from last week.

The dominant sector of people claiming the PUP is Accommodation and Food Services, Wholesale and Retail Trade, and Administrative and Support Services Activities.
