After nearly four months of restrictions, Australia’s second-largest city ‘Melbourne’ is to exit its lockdown at midnight tomorrow after zero daily cases and deaths were reported.
Melbourne and surrounding Victoria recorded their first 24-hour period without any new Covid-19 cases since the 8th of June.
From midnight tomorrow, beauty salons, restaurants and retail outlets will be allowed to open their doors. The news was announced by Victoria state Premier Daniel Andrews who described it as an “emotional day”.
He told reporters in Melbourne that “This has been a very difficult year. And Victorians have given a lot and I’m proud of every single one of them,”.
