Average number of close contacts per Covid-19 case now 3 as positivity rate continues to decline

The average number of close contacts per person who tests positive for Covid-19 in Ireland is now just three.

The figures were confirmed by the HSE.

The positivity rate is now 6.2%, according to the Department of Health, down from 7.3% on Monday and 6.9% on Thursday.

The positivity rate in testing has now come down over the past 8 days. The number of close contacts is now down to an avg. of 3. Most close contacts are household. Still very early but good. We're all be part of the solution. Let's keep this going. @HSELive #COVID19

Next week Ireland will enter its second week of Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions.
