Hand sanitiser used in many schools recalled over health concerns

The Department of Agriculture has recalled an approved hand sanitiser which was widely in use in schools.

The ViraPro Hand Sanitiser was recalled and the department said it was removed from the Biocidal Product Register due to possible public health concerns.

The Department of Education said schools using the sanitiser can close today if they choose.

The Department of Agriculture said ViraPro PCS 100409 was recalled as prolonged use “may cause dermatitis, eye irritation, upper respiratory system irritation and headaches”.
