Up to 60,000 retail jobs could be lost as a result of Level 5 lockdown

As non-essential retail faces a six-week closure, business owners have expressed their concern as they are extremely disappointed with the government’s decision on moving the entire country to Level 5 of the government’s ‘Living With Covid’ plan.

Retail Ireland has recently reacted to the new Level 5 lockdown, which will come into effect from midnight tomorrow, stating that it is a serious blow and that there’s a major concern that vulnerable businesses will not survive.

Retail Excellence has expressed their concern as it’s predicted that 60,000 jobs will be lost as a result of the lockdown.
