Government decision expected tomorrow on Covid-19 restrictions

Ministers will continue in their considerations today about what approach to take regarding NPHET’s Level 5 nationwide recommendation for a period of six weeks.

A Cabinet meeting has been scheduled for tomorrow and it is expected at that point, a decision will be taken on what additional restrictions should be imposed.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan briefed the three leaders of the coalition parties yesterday, along with senior ministers, on the proposal to impose Level 5 restrictions for six weeks.

It is expected an announcement will be made tomorrow evening over what direction the country is taking.
