Following a major surge in deliveries during the Covid-10 pandemic, parcel delivery company ‘DPD’ has announced that it will create 700 new jobs before the end of the year.
The company stated that 150 positions will be based at its headquarters in Athlone with the remaining 550 jobs for drivers and operational personnel that will be based at its 36 nationwide depots.
The company has begun investing ā¬1 million into additional driver scanner technology as well as an additional ā¬1 million into its automation and routing systems at its Athlone-based sorting facility.
The company reported an 800% surge in electrical goods deliveries, a 300% increase in pet food deliveries and a 225% increase in sports equipment deliveries.
