Over 23,000 more people on Covid-19 unemployment payment

According to the Department of Social Protection, the number of people on the Covid-19 unemployment payment has risen by 23,000 which brings the total number of people in the state who are on the welfare payment to 228,858.

This is an increase from last week’s figure which was 205,593.

The value of the payments that were issued today totalled €61.4 million, which is a rise of €6.2 million over the last seven days.
