An Irish Ferries crew member remains missing following a search attempt by HM Coastguard in Holyhead in Wales with the assistance of the Irish Coast Guard.
Alarms were raised last night at approximately 9pm when the crew member went missing on the WB Yeats ferry which operates from Dublin to Holyhead.
According to a HM Coastguard official, the crew member was last seen between the hours 15:30 and 16:00 on Monday.
An aircraft was used by the Irish Coast Guard from approximately 12:30am to 3am to search for the missing crew member but was unsuccessful.
The co-ordinated search consisting of RNLI lifeboats, a HM Coastguard plane and an Irish Coast Guard helicopter covered 1,000 square nautical miles.
An Irish Ferries spokesperson stated that the company will not be commenting on the situation.
