Dr. Tony Holohan to return to his role as chief medical officer next week

Ireland’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tony Holohan will return to work next week and is expected to resume his duties from Monday.

Dr. Holohan had stepped away from his role at the beginning of July to spend time with his family and help provide care for his wife, who was diagnosed with a form of blood cancer in 2012.

Dr. Ronan Glynn took over the role as acting CMO in early July, but Dr. Holohan will now resume his role.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly said he was looking forward to meeting with Dr. Holohan in the coming times.
