Investigation underway after man dies following road crash on the M1

Gardaí have launched an investigation after a man in his 50s was killed following a single-vehicle road collision on the M1 earlier today.

The collision occurred on the northbound lane of the motorway between Junction 3 (Swords) and junction 4 (Donabate) at approximately 12:45pm.

The man was the sole occupant of the vehicle, which was a van, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision caused major traffic delays as diversions were put in place due to the road closure as an examination was underway by gardaí.

AA Roadwatch have announced that the road has since reopened following the incident but long delays remain in place.
