Suspect arrested following Birmingham stabbings

Police have arrested a 27-year-old man following an investigation into the multiple stabbings that took place in the early hours of yesterday morning in Birmingham, England.

Following the series of stabbings, a 23-year-old man has died from his injuries whilst a man and a woman aged 19 and 32 remain in critical condition according to police.

Several other people were also injured during the attacks which begun in the north of the city and moved towards the south of the city over the space of 90 minutes.

The suspect, who was detained at a property in the Selly Oak area of the city, is currently being held by police on suspicion of murder and seven accounts of attempted murder.

Officers worked throughout all of yesterday and the early hours of this morning to trace the suspect according to Birmingham Police Commander ‘Chief Superintendent Steve Graham’.

He added that “We issued CCTV footage of the suspect and had a strong response from the public. I’d like to thank everyone who shared our appeal and who provided information to the investigation”.
