Schools across Auckland reopened today as New Zealand’s largest city emerged from lockdown.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern expressed confidence a second-wave outbreak of Covid-19 was under control.
The Auckland lockdown began on 12th August after four cases were detected in the city, which ultimately rose to 141 cases on the present day.
Four new cases were identified as community transmission, but Ardern remained vigilant that it was safe to lift he lockdown.
