One dead in Portland after demonstrators collide

One person was shot dead in Portland following clashes between Black Lives Matter protesters and supporters of President Donald Trump.

Portland Police said, “There have been some instances of violence between demonstrators and counterdemonstrators. Officers have intervened and in some cases made arrests.”

The shooting occurred at around 8.45pm downtown, police adding a homicide investigation was under way.

Police responded to the call to find a victim with a gunshot wound in his chest.
