Met Éireann issue Status Yellow rain warning for Leinster and Munster

Localised flooding and thundery downpours are to be expected in Munster and Leinster as Met Éireann issues a Status Yellow rain warning for both provinces.

Heavy rain has been reported in Cork city as the Blackrock Castle Observatory Weather Station states that 4.3mm of rain has fallen since 6am this morning.

Gardaí in Bantry and Bandon have reported some surface water but there has been no reports of flooding on local roads.

The warning will remain in effect until 6am tomorrow.

A meeting is to be held by the Cork County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team and the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform ‘Michael McGrath’ is due to visit west Cork this morning.
