Last Thursday, a man and his two children died after their car entered Lough Foyle in Donegal following a day out.
The mother of the children, Geraldine Mullan (45), survived the crash.
She has since spoken out about the incident where she lost her husband John Mullan (49) and her two children Tomás (14) and Amelia (6) stating “Every second, in every minute of every hour and every day that I am without John, Tomás and Amelia is a second too long”.
In relation to her children she stated that “They will forever be my darling babies,” and in regards to her husband she said “John, you are my rock, my soulmate, my best friend and you showed me what true love was all about”.
In relation to the car crash, Geraldine stated that John was a safe driver and that reckless driving or speed was not the reason for the crash, she told mourners that “unfortunately everything was against us that night. The high tide, the weather from Storm Ellen, the roadworks and the slippery conditions”.
According to mourners, Tomás and Amelia were found clinging to each other following the crash.
A guard of honor was formed by members of the sea scouts while nursing staff from Letterkenny Hospital, where Geraldine works, and the local GAA team all stood outside the church.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Geraldine and her family members.
