New virus restrictions have been implemented in two Spanish regions

The northern Spanish region of La Rioja and the southeastern region of Murcia have implemented new Covid-19 restrictions as the country battles a surge in the virus.

These new restrictions include the closure of discos, night clubs and dance halls, restaurants and bars must close by 1:00am and new guests are not allowed to enter the premisis from midnight.

There will also be limited visits to retirement homes and a ban has been placed on smoking outdoors in areas where a distance of two metres cannot be maintained.

In the coming days, the remaining regional governments of Spain are expected to implement the new measures as well.

Tomorrow, the Basque Region will declare a “health emergency” which will allow size restrictions on public gatherings and establish selective confinement in high risk transmission areas.

According to Health Minister ‘Salvador Illa’, these new health measures will be enforced nationwide.
