Gardaí launch investigation after man dies following ‘serious incident’ in Dublin

A man in his 30s has been arrested following an incident that took place in Tallaght, Co Dublin this morning.

A man in his 50s was killed after he was struck by a van in the Tymon Road North Area.

He was pronounced dead at Tallaght Hospital and a post-mortem examination is underway.

The driver failed to remain at the scene and was later caught by gardaí at Tymonville Gardens where he was arrested.

Prior to this incident, gardaí were called to the same residence shortly before midnight in relation to an incident involving shots being fired, however, no injuries were reported.

A dark-coloured hatchback was seen leaving the area where the hit-and-run took place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident and in particular witnessed this car leaving the scene is asked to contact them.

Anyone who was driving in the Tymon Road North in the early hours of the morning with dash cam footage is also asked to contact gardaí.
