Investigations are ongoing after a teenage boy dies following a fall at Powerscourt Waterfall in Wicklow.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30pm.
The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been taken to Columcille’s Hospital in Loughlinstown where a post-mortem examination will take place.
As well as gardaí, the incident was also attended by the fire services, Coastguard, paramedics, volunteers of the Dublin and Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team, and the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team.
A second individual was rescued near the top of the waterfall by the Coastguard’s Rescue 116 helicopter and was taken to hospital.
Gardaí are treating the incident as a tragic accident.
