Pubs that cannot serve food, as well as nightclubs, casinos and hotel bars will not reopen on the 10th of August as the government has made the decision to postpone Phase 4.
This will be reviewed again on the 31st of August.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin responded to a question in regards to when the pubs will reopen, stating that it will depend on how the virus spreads and that “We can’t give any guarantees right now.”
Martin added “I know this will come as a bitter disappointment to many people… I know this will come as a blow to pub owners,”.
From next Monday (August 10th), face coverings will also be made mandatory in shops and shopping centres.
Gatherings of up to 500 people outdoors will not be permitted either.
As well as this, five countries have been removed from the green list:
Cyprus, Malta, Gibraltar, Monaco and San Marino.
