Man dead following swimming incident in the River Lee, Cork

A man in his late 30s has died following a swimming incident in the River Lee at Ballincollig in Co Cork.

The man’s body was recovered by the Mallow search and rescue team at around 1:30am.

It is understood that the man was swimming with a group on the riverbank last night when the incident occurred.

A post-mortem examination is to take place at Cork University Hospital.
