Gardaí have arrested a man following a car hijacking in Dublin

Gardaí have arrested a man in his late 20s following a car hijacking that took place on Capel Street, Dublin 1.

The incident took place at approximately 8:15am yesterday morning at a set of traffic lights where a man approached a vehicle and told the driver to exit.

After the occupant of the car exited the vehicle, the hijacker drove away heading southbound on the Quays.

At approximately 10am, the hijacker collided with two vehicles on Walkinstown Avenue in Dublin 12.

The hijacker was arrested at the scene and was detained at Store Street Garda Station.

He appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning at 10:30am after being charged in relation to the incident.
