US biotechnology company Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine successful in monkeys

US biotechnology company Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine induced a robust immune response and prevented the coronavirus from replicating in the noses and lungs of monkeys.

The study, conducted by the New England Journal of Medicine, expressed the significance of the vaccine preventing the replication of the virus in the nose as crucial.

One month after the monkeys received their second injection, they were exposed to the Covid-19 virus in their nose and lungs.

After two days, no replication of the virus was detected in the lungs of seven of the eight monkeys on trial.
