German police search garden area for third day in Madeline McCann investigation

German police investigating are searching a garden plot on the outskirts of Hannover in northern Germany for a third day in a row in an investigation into the disappearance of Madeline McCann.

Police are thoroughly investigating the garden area, using excavators and sniffer dogs.

Prosecutors did not say what exactly the investigators were looking for. A spokeswoman for the Braunschweig prosecutor’s office said yesterday that the investigation on the site was connected to their inquiry regarding Madeleine McCann.

Madeline McCann has been missing since her disappearance in Portugal in 2007.
