An investigation is underway by gardaí following a series of incidents that took place earlier this week in Kilkenny.
At approximately 6:30pm in Sunday, gardaí and paramedics responded to an incident in the An Grianan housing estate in Killenaule, Co Tipperary.
A man had received a significant injury to his arm and was hospitalised as a result.
The man then left the hospital later on.
At approximately 12:30am on Monday, he was picked up by gardaí after he was found walking on the M8 motorway near junction 6 heading northbound.
Gardaí brought the man to the Chapelfield Estate which is located in Urlingford, Kilkenny, and left upon observing the man at the front door of a house.
Approximately 45 minutes later, gardaí and paramedics responded to an incident at a house in the same estate.
The man was then brought to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny where he was later pronounced dead.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone who was present in the areas of either of these incidents to contact them.
