President Donald Trump calls off Florida segment of Republican National Convention

US President Donald Trump has announced the cancellation plans for a four-night Republican National Convention celebration in Jacksonville, Florida.

The cancellation is due to a Covid-19 spike which is beginning to shift to the south of the country.

Trump already cancelled the convention’s public events in North Carolina over concerns of the coronavirus.

There are fears that large gatherings like this could cause a spike in infections.

Trump explained the cancellation by stating “It’s a different world, and it will be for a little while,”.

On the 24th of August, a small subset of Republican delegates will still formally denominate Trump at a four-hour event in Charlotte, North Carolina.
