Hong Kong Chief Executive ‘Carrie Lam’ says virus is spreading out of control

The Chief Executive of Hong Kong ‘Carrie Lam’ has responded to a recent surge of Covid-19 cases in the area stating “I think the situation is really critical and there is no sign the situation is being brought under control”.

Over 100 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed today in Hong Kong following a surge in confirmed cases in the past two weeks.

Only last month, Honk Kong tackled the disease and ended local transmissions.

Doctors fear that this new outbreak is spreading undetected.

In the past two weeks there has been over 500 infections.

Carrie Lam introduced new social distancing measures last week which has shut down bars, nightclubs, gyms and other businesses, as well as introducing mandatory face coverings on public transport.

Restaurants can only offer takeout services in the evenings.
