Man charged in relation to vandalism of Luke Kelly statue

A 47-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with the defacement of the Luke Kelly statue in the Sheriff Street area of Dublin on Sunday.

Michael Dunne, with an address at Sophia House, Sean MacDermott Street, has been charged with criminal damage of the sculpture.

Dunne was granted bail, but was told to stay away from the Sheriff Street area and sign-on three times weekly at Store Street Garda Station.

The statue has been vandalised seven times since being erected.
