Over the weekend, gardaí conducted 6,830 checks of pubs to support public health guidelines.
Following their searches they found 2,785 pubs open for business and that 2,759 were compliant with regulations.
However, gardaí stated that 26 pubs were potentially breaching health regulations and licensing laws “even after providing the premises with the opportunity to rectify the situation”.
The pubs have not been named, and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for each case.
Gardaí stated that some of the violations involved a lack of social distancing, and no evidence of food being consumed with alcohol.
