Investigation underway after two brothers die following a diving incident in Tipperary yesterday

Emergency services responded to an incident in Portroe, Tipperary yesterday where two men drowned.

The men have been identified as Fergus Brophy (43) and Philip Brophy (34).

According to reports, the men were experienced divers and one of them had gotten into difficulty while swimming.

The other sibling entered the water and tried to help, it is not fully known as to what happened but gardaí are treating it as a “tragic accident”.
