Man arrested after shots are fired at gardaí in Cork last night

Gardaí have arrested a man in his 20s after shots were fired at gardaí last night.

The incident begun when gardaí were called to Military Road.

Upon responding, the man opened fired at gardaí and left in a car.

The Armed Support Unit then perused after the man but the car chase was stopped at the M8 Northbound when a stinger device was used.

The man left the vehicle and begun firing shots at gardaí again.

According to gardaí, a “less than lethal device” was used on the man, and he was arrested afterwards.

The man is currently being detained at Fermoy Garda Station.
