Gardaí are investigating a burglary and assault that took place in Tipperary

An investigation is underway by gardaí following a burglary and assault that took place in Clonmel, Co Tipperary.

The incident took place at a house at Westgate Court in Irishtown.

The occupant of the House, a man in his 30s, chased one of the suspects down the road but was assaulted by the suspect.

The man in currently being hospitalised at South Tipperary General Hospital, his injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, have been arrested by gardaí.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
