German police investigating 30,000 suspects as part of a paedophile probe

As part of a probe into an online paedophile network in Germany, police are investigating 30,000 suspects.

Starting last October with the arrest of a suspected perpetrator in Cologne, investigators have stated that they have turned up a far bigger network than expected.

North Rhine-Westphalia’s justice minister ‘Peter Beisenbach’ told reporters that “We must recognise that child abuse on the internet is more widespread than we had previously thought”.

In the past 18 months, Germany has seen several cases of serious child sex abuse.
