New coalition government state that they would commit to ending Direct Provision

The coalition government draft programme between Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil and the Green Party has stated that they will commit to ending Direct Provision.

They assured that accommodation that “has the protection and promotion of human rights at its core” will be provided to asylum seekers.

By the end of 2020, this new government has stated that they will commit to the 33rd Dáil to publishing a white paper that will describe how the new system will work.
