Demonstrators clash with police in London while protecting the Winston Churchill statue

Protests took place on the streets of London between an activist group and police officers.

The activists were protecting the statue of Winston Churchill.

Initially, a Black Lives Matter counter-protest was to take place but was called off over the fear of violence between the two groups.

The police, who were also defending the statue, were trying to control the demonstrators by sealing off the protest area.

This follows the controversy surrounding the statue of Churchill and other historical figures due to their racist history.
