Gardaí report 88 incidents of spitting or coughing against them since April

Figures reveal that there have been 88 incidents of spitting/coughing towards them since the 8th of April.

Anti-spit guards have been used 63 times.

Garda Commissioner ‘Drew Harris’ described the incidents as “unacceptable”.

Harris added that “An Garda Síochána will continue to treat any such incident against a member of An Garda Síochána or any citizen very seriously,”.
