Woman dies following house fire in Meath

Navan and Kells fire services responded to a fire yesterday evening in Meath.

The incident took place in the Ros na Ri estate in Navan.

The victim of the fire was identified as ‘Siobhan Gaughan’, who shared the house with her nephew and her sister.

Neighbours tried to rescue Siobhan from her bedroom but the spread of the flames had prevented them from doing so.

This is the second incident where a house fire has claimed the life of a person in the Navan area in recent months with the latest one occurring in March, when two people lost their lives in a house fire in Kells.
