COVID-19: Over five million confirmed cases worldwide

The number of global confirmed cases of Covid-19 has surpassed five million.

Latin America has reported the largest portion of new daily cases after it accounted for one third of the 91,000 cases reported this week.

Europe and the United States each accounted for 20%.

A large portion of the new cases have originated from Brazil where daily cases are rising at a pace that is second to the US.

Over 326,000 lives have been claimed by the pandemic, however, the number is thought to be higher due to limited testing and also the fact that many countries do not include fatalities outside of hospitals.
