Downing Street has announced that the World War II veteran ‘Captain Thomas Moore’ will be awarded knighthood.
The 100-year-old veteran raised almost £33 million for health service charities.
Mr Moore’s goal was to walk 100 laps of his Bedfordshire garden before turning 100 years old, which he completed ahead of time.
An investiture ceremony is to take place at a later date.
The honorary colonel’s official title will be ‘Captain Sir Thomas Moore’.
