The Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) has warned the public to be aware of Legionnaires’ Disease.

This is caused when bacteria begins to grow in water that has been left untouched.

As a large quantity of businesses were shut down during the Covid-19 crisis, water systems have been left idle as a result.

This disease is a form of pneumonia that causes serious illness in people aged over 50, smokers and people with underlying health conditions.
