Showjumping legend ‘Billy Ringrose’ dies aged 89

At the age of 89, showjumping legend ‘Col. Billy Ringrose’ has died after a long battle with illness.

During the 1950s and 1960s, he had been a star of the showjumping scene in Ireland and became one of the only two men to win the Aga Khan and the Irish Chef d’Equipe.

He won six international show jumping Grand Prix as well as seven Nations Cup team events.

Ronan Murphy (Horse Sport Ireland CEO) stated “On behalf of everyone at Horse Sport Ireland, I want to pass on our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Col Billy Ringrose, who was one of the greats of Irish Show Jumping”.
