Investigation underway after gardaí seize €21,000 worth of cocaine in Galway

Gardaí have arrested two men following the seizure of €21,000 worth of suspected cocaine in Galway.

The incident took place yesterday at approximately 7pm at Bushy Park during a routine traffic stop.

The passenger, a man in his 20s, fled the scene placing a white package into a gap in a wall.

Gardaí seized the package which is believed to contain €21,000 worth of cocaine.

The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, undertook a roadside drug test which indicated the presence of opiates and cannabis, a further sample has been sent for analysis.

Both men have been detained by gardaí, however, the man in his 20s has been released without charge.

A follow up search was conducted by the Galway Drugs Unit but nothing was detected.
